Harden Comments Trigger Backlash

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has come under fire during the last week following tweets by Houston Rocket’s owner Daryl Morey decrying the flagrant violation of human rights and free speech occurring in Hong Kong at the hands of Chinese communist authorities.

In a long since deleted tweet, Morey exercised his American right of free speech to urge his followers to “stand with Hong Kong” in their struggle against Chinese oppression.

Since that fateful tweet, the utopian, flawless Chinese communist state has severed business ties with the NBA and criticized league chairman Adam Silver for not having immediately placed Morey in a reeducation camp following a show trial and the imprisonment of his extended family.

Earlier this week, as his team prepares for early season clashes, star Houston Rockets guard James Harden told media, “We apologize, we love China, we love playing here.”

However, the star guard – known around the league for his iconic beard, ability to take roughly 55.6 steps without drawing a traveling call, and league high 912.33 average shots per game, did not just stop there.

“Yo I fucking love communist China, b. Big fan of Mao and the party, know what I’m sayin’,” Harden continued, noting how the slaughter of student protestors in 1989 at Tiananmen Square and presence of tanks influenced his own indomitable attitude when attacking the basket.

“Forreal tho fam, big fan of the Cultural Revolution and the Gang of Four… Gotta love when politics and judicial decisions are as blatantly rigged as our own organization’s playoffs – love the showmanship there, nahmean,” Harden glowingly told press.

Famous for his high-flying dunks, arresting crossovers, and step-back jump shots, Harden noted that Chairman Mao’s “Great Leap Forward” was an obvious influence on his style of play.

“Bet it up; with tens of millions dead of a famine caused by his flawed gameplan, Mao took that bitch to the rack like nobody else. People always telling me, why you gotta take every shot, why not use your teammates… No way fam – you gotta do that shit like my dude Mao: eyes on the prize, fuck the haters, and reeducate the fuck outta anyone saying otherwise,” Harden concluded, dismissing further questions about how one of the most selfishly individual players in the league could ideologically identify with a radical socialist political regime.
